Russian folk songs for young children

Russian folk songs lyrics for kids

There are a number of folk songs that are designed for the youngest age category of children.

These songs are kind of educational and developmental. They teach children a sense of rhythm, improve their mood, and can also teach counting, for example, or recognizing animal sounds.

Together with songs, it is easier for kids to get acquainted with the world around them, and it is simply more fun to do it.

By the way, if a child has difficulties in pronouncing words, then singing will be easier for him than just pronouncing words, phrases and sentences.

It’s not for nothing that some children learn to sing first and then speak.

Oh you, my canopy, canopy Oh you, my canopy, canopy, My new canopy, New canopy, maple, lattice!

Just like I don’t walk around you, in the Senechkas, I love my friend by the hand. Don’t walk around!

She came out young, beyond the new gate, and released a falcon from her right sleeve.

You fly, fly, falcon, to your homeland; Father lives on his native side of Grozen.

Doesn't let young women in late at night alone. I didn’t listen to my father, I made fun of the young man.

Oh, my canopy, my canopy, my new canopy, my new canopy, maple, lattice!

Felt boots

Felt boots and felt boots, oh yes, the old ones are not hemmed. You can’t wear felt boots. There’s nothing to go to the cute one. Felt boots, oh, the old ones aren’t hemmed. Felt boots, oh, the old ones aren’t hemmed. Oh, Kolya Kolya Nikolay, stay at home, don’t go out for a walk. Don’t go to the other end, oh, don’t wear rings for the girls. Felt boots, oh, the old ones aren’t hemmed. Felt boots, felt boots What to wear as gifts is better to hem Felt boots, oh, old, unhemmed boots

Whether in the garden or in the vegetable garden

Whether in the garden or in the vegetable garden, the girl was walking. Small, round-faced, rosy face.

A daring fellow follows her, and wanders after her. He called the red maiden to the cheese boron, breast-deep.

- I’ll go, I’ll go with you, My legs will get tired. Lay down the carriage, my dear, I’ll get in and go.

If you love, then you will buy a gold ring, I will press your gold ring to my heart.

The young man doesn't move, he stands by the stump. He kisses the red maiden and presses her to her heart.

- Let's live, my dear, We'll live well in love, We'll be a year old in just one hour.

There was a birch tree in the field

In the field a curly birch stood In a field a curly one stood Lyuli lyuli stood Lyuli lyuli stood No one to break a birch No one to break a curly birch Lyuli lyuli to break Lyuli lyuli to break I'll go for a walk I'll break a white birch Lyuli lyuli I'll break Lyuli lyuli I'll break it I'll cut three twigs from a birch I'll make three of them beep Lyuli lyuli three beeps Lyuli lyuli three beeps The fourth balalaika The fourth balalaika Lyuli lyuli balalaika

Kalinka

Oh! Under the green pine tree You lay me down to sleep; Ay, lyuli, lyuli, ah, lyuli, lyuli, put me to sleep.

Kalinka, Kalinka, my Kalinka! There is a raspberry in the garden, my raspberry! Oh! You're a green pine, don't make noise at me! Ay, lyuli, lyuli, ah, lyuli, lyuli, Don’t make noise at me!

Kalinka, Kalinka, my Kalinka! There is a raspberry in the garden, my raspberry! Oh! Beauty, soul-maiden, love me! Ay, lyuli, lyuli, ah, lyuli, lyuli, love me!

Kalinka, Kalinka, my Kalinka! There is a raspberry in the garden, my raspberry!

Oh curly rowan

The evening floats with a quiet song over the river A factory glows in the distant lightnings Somewhere a train rolls with dots of fire Somewhere under a rowan tree the guys are waiting for me Oh curly rowan white flowers Oh rowan rowan why are you sad Only the melodious beeps will fall silent over the water I'm going to the rowan along a steep path Trembling under curly wind endlessly On the right the turner's curls on the left of the blacksmith Oh curly rowan white flowers Oh rowan rowan why are you sad During the day in the workshop short meetings are hot And we'll get together in the evening we'll sit and be silent The summer stars silently look at the guys And the clear ones won't say which of them is nicer Oh curly white rowan flowers Oh, rowan tree, why are you sad? Which one of them is more desirable to squeeze the hand of? With a troubled heart, I still don’t understand. Both guys are brave, both are good. Dear rowan tree, tell your heart. Oh, rowan tree, both are good. Oh, rowan tree, tell your heart.

Soldiers, brave boys...

Soldiers, brave boys, Where are your grandfathers? - Our grandfathers are glorious victories, That's where our grandfathers are!

Soldiers, brave boys, Where are your fathers? - Our fathers are Russian commanders, That’s where our fathers are!

Soldiers, brave boys, Where are your wombs? - Our wombs are white tents, That's where our wombs are!

Soldiers, brave boys, where are your wives? - Our wives - the guns are loaded, That's where our wives are!

Soldiers, brave boys, where are your sisters? - Our sisters are bayonets, sabers sharp, That's where our sisters are!

Soldiers, brave boys, where are your children? - Our children are our bullets, that’s where our children are!...

Russian folk songs for young children

This publication continues the line begun by the collection “Your First Songs” and associated with the publication of Russian folk songs for children's choirs. If the songs included in the first collection were exclusively single-voice and had piano accompaniment, then this release includes folk samples designed for polyphonic performance and mostly without instrumental accompaniment. In addition, the previous collection was addressed to children of preschool and primary school age, and the new edition is intended for both junior and senior schoolchildren. The main goal pursued by the compiler is to provide choirmasters working with children with a highly artistic repertoire that will help develop such important skills in the choir as the ability to sing in several voices and perform works without instrumental accompaniment.

In the collection you can find a number of treatments that have already found wide application in artistic practice. These arrangements belong to outstanding Russian composers who did a lot to promote folk music - N. Rimsky-Korsakov, A. Lyadov, Vik. Kalinnikov, wonderful masters of Soviet choral art - A. Sveshnikov, V. Sokolov and others. Most of the songs in this collection are published for children's choral performance for the first time, and many of them have been specially processed for this publication. These songs are selected from various folklore collections and represent the most diverse regions of Russia. Among the published samples there are very ancient tunes, songs of Russian antiquity and a number of modern melodies. In some cases, the text of the songs is shortened, local dialect expressions are replaced by generally accepted literary ones, individual melodies are transposed in comparison with the original sources into tonality convenient for children's performance. At the same time, taking into account the wide addressee of the collection, the compiler included arrangements of varying degrees of complexity, varied in genre and content: songs of the calendar, rituals, round dances, everyday songs, games, patriotic, lyrical, satirical and comic.
